There are a number of products on the market for removing unwanted hair. You’ll find creams for hair removal. But these tend to irritate your skin. And if you choose a manual razor with razor blades, there’s always the risk of “razor burn”, ingrown hair, or nicks and cuts. Fortunately, there are electric razors, especially for women, that employ a flexible, hypoallergenic shield. They’ll remove unwanted hair from your arms, legs, and bikini area, without any irritation.
But there’s still a bit of variation among women’s electric razors. The models that we’ll examine are all cordless, but some need AAA batteries, while others use a rechargeable Li-ion or NIMH battery. Some are intended only for dry use, while others allow you the freedom of using them for either dry or wet shaving. And we’ll see other great features, that might help you decide on one of the entries on our list of the 10 best electric razors for women!
Dry shaving: These razors can only be used for dry shaving. An example is the Finishing Touch Flawless Body Rechargeable Ladies Shaver and Trimmer. It also has an LED light to illuminate the area that you’re shaving, to make sure that the results are perfect. And it comes in a stylish, 18k gold plated body!

Wet and dry shaving: These razors are electric, but they’ll have a waterproof rating that allows you to use them in the bath or shower. An example is the Philips SatinShave Advanced Women’s Electric Shaver.

Effective even for very fine hairs: An electric razor can’t really cut as close as a straight razor. But, you can’t settle for an electric razor that leaves stubble.
Great alternative to avoid ingrown hairs: Ingrown hairs are hairs that regrow improperly after shaving. They grow into the skin, instead of protruding outwards. They can become infected, leaving a pus-filled lesion. But electric trimmers cut the hair by cutting only the part that goes through the holes in the razor’s shield. This way, although it doesn’t shave as close as a straight razor, it leaves a small amount protruding above the skin. This reduces the risk of ingrown hairs. Women who use the Philips SatinShave Advanced Women’s Shaver said that it does a very good job as a bikini trimmer. They get excellent results, without the ingrown hairs that are common with a straight razor.
Travel electric razors: Many of these models come with a convenient carrying case, letting you carry the shaver and all of its accessories wherever you go. But some are amazingly small and lightweight. One example is the Clio Palmperfect Electric Shaver. It’s less than 8” in length, and weighs only 4.5 grams! You’ll have no problem packing it away with the rest of your toiletries.

Care when recharging: We mentioned how certain electric razors can charge up by means of a USB cable or a charging stand. That’s convenient, but you have to exercise caution as well. If it’s a razor for wet shaving, never use the razor while it’s charging! There is a risk of electrocution if the charging adapter gets wet. Also, even under dry conditions, using a device while it is charging can shorten the battery life.
Waterproof rating: You’ll see wet/dry razors have an IP rating. That stands for “Ingress Protection”. For example, the Brori Electric Razor for Women has an IP rating of IPX7. The “X” stands for the rating of how impervious the device is to dust, while the “7” indicates how impervious it is against water from seeping in. An IPX7 rating means that the razor can even be submerged in water up to a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes. That’s considered exceptional for a razor. Many can be used with water, but aren’t intended to be used underwater.
Indicator light: Some electric razors, like the Philips Satin Shave, have an indicator light to tell you when the device needs to be charged, and when it is charging. This will help you make sure that the device won’t die on you in the middle of shaving.
LED light: Some razors, such as the Finishing Touch Flawless Body Shaver and Trimmer, include an LED light to help illuminate the area that you’re shaving. That helps you make sure that the shave is truly close, and that you don’t miss any spots. It also allows you to shave in both directions, both with and against the grain of the hairs.
Pivoting heads: Pivoting heads on a razor is a nice feature because it allows the razor blades to travel along the contours of your body, whether it’s the armpits, arms, or legs. The Panasonic Electric Shaver for Women (Model ES2207P) has 3 independently floating pivoting heads, for just this purpose.
