JT Eaton 754 Top Gun Pellet Place Packs Rodenticide, Neurological Bait with Stop-Feed Action, for Mice and Rats (4 lb Pail of 128)

Rating
9.4
Effectiveness
Ease of Use

Most important from
326 reviews

Effectiveness
This stuff works great! We live near a native area so are subject to having mice show up. It got bad over the winter because we take our own trash to the dump and it will pile up a little depending on the weather. I had some success with sticky traps but the get expensive if you have 'a lot' of mice. After finding a few mice in my house and chewing through my pantry wall and leaving droppings etc. (gross!!), I realized I needed to get really serious and that meant poison. I followed the instructions and hid the packets in places my pets couldn't get to. It took a week or two, but we gradually started to see dead mice, or mice that looked intoxicated (wobbly) and knew they were eating the poison. Eventually, we stopped seeing any live mice. It's been a good 4-5 months and we haven't seen a single mice or any signs of mice. Just follow the instructions and put the unopened packets in places you know the mice frequent. I highly recommend this product. If you have seen even one mouse, it means there are a lot more you haven't seen and they WILL multiply. Don't waste money on traps or glue strips. Mice learn and will avoid them over time. You'll find the packets disappear which means they've taken it to share with their buddies. I have piece of mind now. Finally.
Ease of Use
Very easy to use and distribute where needed.

The JT Eaton 754 Top Gun Pellet Place Packs Rodenticide is a potent solution for dealing with both mice and rats. This product uses a neurological bait with bromethalin as the active ingredient, which effectively stops rodents from feeding after they consume a lethal dose. This 'stop-feed' action means you won't have to worry about rodents continuing to eat the bait, which is a significant plus for effectiveness.

Users can expect the rodents to die within 1-2 days after ingestion. Additionally, the inclusion of bitrex helps deter accidental consumption by children, adding a layer of safety. The product comes in a 4 lb pail containing 128 packs of pellets, making it convenient for widespread placement around your home or garden. It also includes a 1-year limited warranty, which gives some assurance of quality and reliability.

One important thing to consider is the secondary poisoning risk. Since bromethalin is a potent poison, there is a chance that pets could be affected if they consume poisoned rodents. While the product is environmentally impactful, the convenience and effectiveness might outweigh this for many users. Moreover, the packaging and formulation make it easy to use, even for those who are not very handy. This rodenticide is a strong choice for effectively tackling rodent problems but requires caution if you have pets around.

JT Eaton 716-S Nectus Soft Pest Bait, White

Rating
9.1
Effectiveness

Most important from

Effectiveness
After a few nights in my new place, this stuff is like Thanksgiving to them. Knock on wood, it's been 5 days straight without any mice poop or noises. This stuff works works works.

The JT Eaton 716-S Nectus Soft Pest Bait uses bromadiolone as its active ingredient, which is an effective anticoagulant that delivers immediate results in controlling rodents. This moist bait is highly palatable, making it an attractive option for rodents even in environments where food is abundant, thus enhancing its effectiveness.

The bait comes in a substantial 16-pound pail, which is convenient for long-term use or larger infestations. However, there are considerations regarding secondary poisoning risk. While bromadiolone is effective against rodents, it poses a risk to pets and wildlife if they consume poisoned rodents, which is a significant drawback in terms of pet-friendliness.

The formulation as soft bait tablets makes it easy to place and use, but caution must be exercised to ensure it is out of reach of pets. Environmentally, while the product is efficient in rodent control, care must be taken to prevent contamination of non-target species. JT Eaton 716-S Nectus Soft Pest Bait is highly effective and easy to use but requires careful handling to mitigate risks to pets and other wildlife.

Buying Guide for the Best Pet Friendly Mouse Poison

Choosing the right pet-friendly mouse poison is crucial to ensure the safety of your pets while effectively dealing with a mouse problem. The key is to find a product that targets mice without posing a risk to your furry friends. Here are some important specifications to consider when selecting a pet-friendly mouse poison.
Active IngredientThe active ingredient is the chemical component that kills the mice. It's important to choose a product with an active ingredient that is safe for pets. Some common pet-friendly active ingredients include Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) and corn cellulose. These ingredients are lethal to mice but have a much higher safety margin for pets. Always check the label and research the active ingredient to ensure it is safe for your specific type of pet.
FormulationMouse poisons come in various formulations such as pellets, blocks, and bait stations. Pellets and blocks can be easily scattered or placed in areas where mice are active, but they can also be accessible to pets. Bait stations are enclosed containers that hold the poison inside, making it difficult for pets to access the bait. If you have curious pets, opt for bait stations to minimize the risk of accidental ingestion.
Secondary Poisoning RiskSecondary poisoning occurs when a pet eats a poisoned mouse. Some poisons have a higher risk of secondary poisoning than others. Products with lower secondary poisoning risks are preferable in households with pets. Look for poisons that are specifically labeled as having low secondary poisoning risks or consult with a veterinarian for recommendations.
EffectivenessEffectiveness refers to how well the poison works in eliminating mice. Some products may take longer to work or require multiple feedings to be effective. Read reviews and product descriptions to gauge the effectiveness of the poison. If you have a severe mouse problem, you may need a more potent product, but always balance this with the safety of your pets.
Ease of UseEase of use is about how simple it is to apply the poison and monitor its usage. Some products come with detailed instructions and are easy to set up, while others may require more effort. Consider your comfort level with handling the product and the time you can dedicate to monitoring it. Choose a product that fits your lifestyle and ensures the safety of your pets.
Environmental ImpactThe environmental impact of the poison is an important consideration, especially if you have outdoor pets or wildlife in your area. Some poisons can harm non-target animals and contaminate the environment. Look for eco-friendly options that minimize harm to the environment and non-target species. Products labeled as biodegradable or environmentally safe are good choices.
